BMW M2 gets thumbs up from star race driver

The BMW M2 is the most talked about offering in the BMW range at the moment and star BMW race driver Bruno Spengler has also given the sporty coupe a big thumbs-up.

In Australia to race in the GT Championship event at Phillip Island this weekend, Spengler was quizzed by journalists in Melbourne on whether he had tested the new six-cylinder M2 offering.

“It is my favourite BMW car at the moment,” he told us.

“I have driven it on race circuits in South Africa and New Caledonia and the M2 is perfectly balanced.”

Spengler, who currently has a larger BMW M5 in the garage, said what he liked most about the M2 was how the new engine sounded like the classic BMW straight-six that featured in a car his dad owned.

“BMW has gone back to its roots with this car, but with great technology and weight distribution.”

And what was the DTM championship winning driver told when he asked if he could have one?

“Sold out.” he said with a smile.

The BMW M2 is available in very limited numbers at BMW dealerships and prices start from $89,900.
