Matt tells us all about his 1978 XC Ford Falcon Cobra.
I’m lucky enough to have my dream car in my garage and that means I probably can’t be very impartial.
To me, ever since I first set eyes on one, I have thought that the XC Ford Falcon Cobra was the best-looking car ever built.
My one was bought new by its first owner who kept it in his farm shed for the first 15 years or so of its life.
When it came into my possession the XC had only 12,000km on the clock and was as good (or should that be great?) as the day it left the Ford factory.
Over the years I have put an additional 15,000km on it, it’s too nice a car not to drive and I very carefully take on a couple of decent runs each year. The rest of the time it is stored lovingly on blocks, under blankets and a car cover too.
Aside from a small shower that I got caught in about five years ago on a run, the Cobra hasn’t been rained on…probably since it was new.
I can’t really fault the car, everything still works perfectly, including the original radio.
Overall, wow, I love this car so much (as you can probably tell) and no, it is not for sale and as far as I’m concerned it never will be.
The XC Ford Falcon Cobra was a complete legend and I’m very proud to own a piece of amazing motoring history.
