Volkswagen has retained its standing as the best-selling German car importer in Australia with total sales last year again totalling more than 60,000 units (Volkswagen/Skoda combined).
The VFACT sales data shows Volkswagen delivered 58,004 in Australia in 2017, a 2.5% increase on the brand’s 2016 total.

Skoda sales climbed 12.4% with 5,350 Skoda cars and SUVs delivered to Aussie customers in the year.
Interestingly, Volkswagen say they could have sold more cars in our local market if not for some supply constraints that left it short of popular models like Tiguan and Amarok.
Driving a lot of the Volkswagen growth was a healthy jump in demand for the German brand’s range of commercial vehicles.
Record sales were reported by the division with 15,688 deliveries in 2017 – an increase of 14.1% on 2016.
Volkswagen’s Australian boss, Michael Bartsch, paid tribute to the nation’s loyal Volkswagen and Skoda customers.
“Volkswagen Group Australia continues to sell record numbers of the world’s best affordable vehicles,”
“We thank our customers and die-hard fans for their continued loyalty and support.”
