Updated 2018 Mazda6 to debut at LA Auto Show

New turbocharged engine and design tweaks for Mazda6

The Mazda6 will welcome some changes for 2018 with the updated model to be unveiled in less than a fortnight at the LA Auto Show.

Confirmed this morning by Mazda, the big news is the addition of the same 2.5 litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine found in the CX-9 SUV into the Mazda6.

That engine option isn’t yet confirmed for Australia though, we will keep you updated.

The existing naturally-aspirated engine as found in the local model will welcome a new cylinder deactivation system to help improve fuel economy as part of the 2018 update.

Other changes coming to the Mazda mid-size model include an upgrade of the Radar Cruise Control system allowing it to bring the car to a standing stop and take off again when the car in front moves away.

The model also adopts Mazda’s latest 360° View Monitor.

The exterior styling tweaks brings a look of greater maturity and composure, according to Mazda.

While the interior trim has been upgraded and improved to produce “an enhanced premium feel”.

The updated Mazda6 is expected in Australia in late 2018.
