Styling tweaks and new Trailhawk variant for Jeep Grand Cherokee…
Jeep is hoping to attract large SUV buyers back to the Grand Cherokee and believe a significant update of the model will only help.
Arriving in Jeep dealerships now, the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee upgrade brings the keenly-anticipated, off-road focussed, Grand Cherokee Trailhawk to Australia for the first time.
Priced from $74,000, the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is powered exclusively by Jeep’s 3.0 litre turbo-diesel V6 engine, an eight-speed auto comes standard.
While the model’s off-road credentials and ability are boosted by a limited slip rear diff, a unique tune on the Quadra-Drive II 4×4 system, air suspension (with max ground clearance of 260mm) and beefed-up underbody protection.
But, it’s not all about the Trailhawk.
Across the 2017 Jeep Grand Cherokee range there are revised grille/headlight designs, additional off-road maps in the sat-nav system, fresh alloy wheel designs and new paint colours.
The cabin changes are led by a new gear selector, while an acoustic windscreen and front door glass is said to make the SUV/off-roader quieter than before.
Jeep has also taken the opportunity to give the 3.6 litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine a re-tune – this ups the engines power output to 213kW (from 210kW) and improves economy by 4%.
The engine also getting better mileage from a new stop-start system.
The addition of electric power steering, new Eco Mode and updates to the eight-speed auto transmission across the range also helps the Jeep reduce fuel use.
Lastly, Jeep has also upped the models safety features with the addition of systems like Lane Departure Warning, Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist and a Rear Trailer Hitch Camera View for the reverse camera.
Priced from $47,500, Jeep Australia Director, Guillaume Drelon, says the Grand Cherokee range has never been more enticing.
“The updated Grand Cherokee range is not only more refined on-road and more capable offroad, we’ve bolstered its safety credentials and made it even better value for money,”
“On top of all that, the arrival of the new Trailhawk model, with its heightened offroad abilities, is particularly exciting for Australia, a nation whose core values resonate strongly with Jeep’s love of freedom and adventure.”
