We have an updated list of the Subaru vehicles sold in Australia that are affected by the massive Takata Airbag Recalls.
In total, more than 75,900 Subaru vehicles are being recalled over the airbag issue.
The ACCC recall notice advising that Subaru Tribeca MY 2007-2009, Subaru Liberty MY 2004-2009 and Subaru Outback MY 2004-2009 are affected.
The passenger’s front airbag inflator propellant wafers may have an increased potential for moisture intrusion over time.
Moisture intrusion could potentially make the inflator assembly more susceptible to rupture during airbag deployment.
The ruptured inflator may create metallic fragments during deployment that could contact an occupant, increasing the risk of injury.
If your Liberty, Outback or Tribeca vehicle is in the affected MY range, you can phone Subaru on 1300 550 994 to check whether your vehicle is affected (have your VIN handy).
Subaru will also contact affected owners by mail as soon as parts are available.
The letters will instruct owners to present their vehicle to their preferred Subaru dealership for replacement of the front passenger airbag at no cost.
