Subaru to re-enter seven-seat SUV market – the Subaru Tribeca never got much love, with that front it’s no surprise!

Burned slightly by the less than positive take-up of the failed Subaru Tribeca, Subaru has announced intentions to have another crack at the booming seven-seat SUV market.

Set to enter the fiercely competitive seven-seat race in 2018, the new Subaru model is likely to be built on the same platform as the Subaru Liberty and Outback, yet offer a large body and more interior space.

The news comes almost two years after Subaru quit making the Tribeca following disappointing sales, particularly in the U.S. and Australia.

The Tribeca name most likely won’t be resurrected for the new Subaru seven-seat SUV model. Masayuki Uchida from Subaru was quoted earlier in the year that the Tribeca name never really blended with the Subaru image.

“The new vehicle has not yet been named, but will likely carry a name synonymous with outdoor adventure, consistent with the company’s other successful crossovers; Outback, Forester and Crosstrek.”

We will keep you updated on developments as they come to hand.
