Affecting MY15 models of the Liberty and Outback, the recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
The ACCC recall notice advises that the Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) motor in the Subaru models may “stick” post engagement of the EPB (for example when parking) and the EPB may not be able to be subsequently released.
If the EPB does not release, the vehicle will remain in situ until such time as the issue is rectified. This may cause a hazard to the driver and/or other road users.
Known owners will be contacted by mail as soon as parts become available to present their vehicle to their preferred Subaru Retailer for the recall work at no charge.
