Subaru launches new Forester and update Liberty and Outback

Overhaul of 2016 Subaru Forester and additional safety features to Liberty and Outback.

Subaru has made modifications to their three big models with safety upgrades to the Liberty and Outback models plus major changes to the Forester range.

Subaru is pushing safety as a hallmark of their brand adding Vision Assist technology to the current range of Subaru Liberty and Outback on top of the existing Eyesight stereoscopic camera system.

The extra safety technology will be available in the 2.5i Premium and 3.6R variants in both models as well as the Outback 2.0D Premium diesel model.

Vision Assist includes new aids such as blind spot monitoring, lane change assist, rear cross traffic alert, high beam assist and auto dimming mirror.

An Emergency Stop Signal has also been installed which flashes hazard lights during an emergency braking situation and a Map Update Program which keeps the navigation map up to date.

All this comes for only $500RRP more on the standard price while the Outback 2.0D will increase by $1000 and the Outback 2.0D Premium by $1500.

There is also a choice of a new dark blue colour on offer for the Liberty and Outback ranges.

But the biggest change is to the 2016 Subaru Forester which has received a mid-life update.

The exterior has had a facelift with a new grille, bumper, headlights, rear LED lights and alloys.

On the inside, Siri compatibility is now available and the powered driver’s seat now comes with memory function for upper spec variants.

Forester 2.5i-S and 2.0XT also come with steering responsive headlights which illuminate the direction the vehicle is travelling.

Drive-wise Subaru says they have improved the suspension, steering and handling and is quieter from the inside with better NVH.

The good news is there are no alterations to original pricing across the range.

Subaru Managing Director Nick Senior says the latest enhancements should ensure the Forester’s ongoing popularity.

“The Forester will maintain its appeal as the flexible, fun, family wagon and its track record for refined yet durable packaging and five star safety speaks volumes.”
