Technology allows Volvo cars to be used as pick-up and drop off points.

Shopping straight to your Volvo – The technology allows delivery services to access your car – for a short period of time.

Shopping has undergone a huge revolution in recent years thanks to a dramatic increase in on-line shopping.

Many people even order their groceries on-line now-a-days! But, for those people who are away from home during the day, receiving their deliveries can be an issue.

Volvo however believes our cars should be used as safe places to have our shopping delivered to. Using a new app, the Volvo concept allows the delivery service to access your car via a digital key.

Once the delivery is completed, the digital key is no longer operational for that drop-off or pick-up.

Klas Bendrik, Group CIO at Volvo Car Group, said turning the car into a pickup and drop-off zone makes sense.

“The test-customers also indicated that the service clearly saved time, and the same thing is valid for delivery companies a well, because failed first- time deliveries cost the industry an billions in re-delivery costs.”
