Sales record for BMW in March 2016

Another month of impressive sales gains have been achieved by the BMW Group, in fact, the company has never delivered as many vehicles as it did last month.

The biggest month in the brands 100-year history saw the BMW Group sell 240,659 BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce vehicles. That total represents a 3.5% increase in deliveries on the same month last year.

Sales record for BMW in March 2016In the first three months of 2016, BMW Group sales increased 5.9%.

One of the other big achievements in March was the delivery of 200,000 BMW brand cars in a calendar month, a first.

While across the first quarter, some of the BMW sales stars included the BMW 2 Series (up 56.3%), BMW X1 (up 67.7%), BMW X3 (up 27.2%), BMW X6 (up 15.1%) (11,043 units) and the brand’s flagship model, the new BMW 7 Series, achieved a 20.3% sales increase.

MINI sales jumped 6.6% as well in March, however Rolls-Royce sales have slipped 29.4% across the first three months.

Sales and marketing boss at BMW Group, Dr Ian Robertson, welcomed the bumper start to 2016.

“March 2016 has been the best single month ever for BMW Group sales and I’m delighted to see that our innovative product range is enabling us to achieve ongoing, sustainable and profitable growth,”

“Globally, I am confident that we will see this positive trend continue through the year.”
