All-new addition to Range Rover line-up debuting next month…

The Range Rover line-up is set to become a family of four with Land Rover confirming the all-new Range Rover Velar (pronounced vel-ar) will debut at the Geneva Motor Show next month.

Sitting between the Range Rover Evoque and the Range Rover Sport, Land Rover tell us the Velar will display elegant simplicity, a visually reductive approach and pioneering consumer technology.

At this stage, there is no confirmation of engines or specifications for the Range Rover Velar, however Land Rover Chief Design Officer, Gerry McGovern, tells us it will be refined for every occasion, for every terrain.

“We call the Velar the avant garde Range Rover.

“It brings a new dimension of glamour, modernity and elegance to the brand. The Range Rover Velar changes everything.”

Where does the Velar name come from?

Land Rover say it dates back to the first Range Rover prototypes of the Sixties and is derived from the Latin velare meaning to veil or cover.
