Mercedes-Benz Actros recalled

A small number of Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks sold in Australia are being recalled after a possible issue with the radar sensor system was identified.

The recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and affects only Actros trucks sold in Australia in January 2017.

The recall notice advises that the Active Brake Assist (ABA) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC+) systems may become unavailable on specific vehicles due to an internal defect of the radar sensor.

Before the failure occurs and depending on the extent of the damage, the driver can see in the instrument cluster that the ABA indicator lamp goes on after switching on the ignition and does not turn back off.

After pressing the ABA button, a fault message appears on the display.

What are the hazards?

If this failure occurs, it can increase the risk of an accident.

What should Mercedes-Benz Actros owners do?

Owners of affected Mercedes-Benz Actros vehicles are requested to contact an authorised Mercedes-Benz Commercial Vehicle Dealership who will replace the radar sensor free of charge.

The recall comes after some Mercedes-Benz Actros trucks were recalled in February to rectify a potentially dangerous steering system fault.
