BMW marks 25 years building cars in U.S.
It really has been an enormous component in the BMW success story in the past decade and now celebrations have been held to mark 25 years of BMW car production in the USA.
Boasting the largest BMW production facility in the world, the German car company’s South Carolina facility has built more than 3.9 million vehicles, including many of the BMW SUVs on Australia’s roads.
About 70% of all BMW cars built in the U.S. are exported.
One of the vehicles scheduled for U.S. production is the all-new BMW X3 – a model only unveiled early this morning our time.
In marking the quarter century anniversary of the establishment of the U.S. plant, BMW boss Harald Krüger, says the contribution made to the company by the U.S. division can’t be overstated.
And he announced further investment in South Carolina too.
“From 2018 to 2021 we will invest further 600 million US dollars in manufacturing infrastructure for future generations of the BMW X models, including the X7.”
