Nissan Ready to Defend Bathurst Crown

Nissan puts GT-R through its paces ahead of Bathurst 12 Hour.

Nissan returns to Bathurst’s Mount Panorama next week for the Bathurst 12 Hour with hours of intensive testing completed on the #1 Nissan GT-R NISMO GT3.

Nissan tell us they have been putting the GT-R through its paces in testing on Phillip Island and couldn’t be better prepared to defend their Bathurst 12 Hour title.

After completing about 50 laps of the famous Victorian island circuit, Nissan driver Rick Kelly has told Behind the Wheel Motorsport News that he and the team are itching to get to the mountain.

“To drive this car at Phillip Island was a real privilege,”

“It is such a special track and such a special car – I was so excited to get out there, do some laps and get comfortable before the 12 Hour.

“Obviously, the NISMO team did an amazing job to win the race last year. There’s a little bit of pressure for us to go back there and do that again.

“I think our chances are good, but it’s such a long day. After a solid test day, we’re in a really good position.”

Nissan last won back to back titles at Bathurst in the 1991-92 Touring Car Championship race. Catch more details on Nissan’s Bathurst 12 Hour campaign on this week’s Behind the Wheel Podcast, our special guest was Nissan’s Chris Jordan.
