Potentially serious issue found in Nissan Dualis.
Nissan Dualis owners are being asked to wait until March before inspections and rectification of a potentially serious fault in their vehicle is attended to.
The recall of Nissan Dualis vehicles built between February 2012 and September 2012 was launched after it was found that the steering wheel boss, which is connected to the steering column, may not have the appropriate strength.
The ACCC recall notice warns that of a load is applied to the steering wheel which is higher than the load applied during normal steering operation, the boss may separate from the steering column.
If the defect occurs, this will result in loss of steering control, posing an accident hazard.
Despite the seriousness of the recall, the ACCC says Nissan intends to commence the recall in March with 2012 Nissan Dualis owners asked to contact their Nissan Dealer to arrange for an inspection of the steering wheel batch number.
Where necessary, replacement of the steering wheel will be carried out at no cost to owners.
