Micro cars back in vogue in December 2016

The micro-car segment in Australia kicked back into action in December 2016 with sales increasing 62.6% on the same month in 2015.

The impressive result in December helped stem the flow of buyers away from the smallest car segment with sales finishing down just 4.8% on the 2015 total.

It was the Kia Picanto that managed to attract the most customers in the month, VFACTS data shows sales of the soon to be superseded Kia offering broke through the 400 unit barrier with a 408 total.

Once again the Mitsubishi Mirage was also in the mix, while the Holden Spark (a 2016 Behind the Wheel Car of the Year finalist) managed a respectable sales total as well.

  1. not a minute too soon and a lot of these buyers are looking for something better than taking public transport or the expense of using something like a qantas drive account.i am contemplating a new age spark or picanto as a replacement for my 2010 micra.have looked and contemplated second hand yaris/corolla/pulsar/mazda 2 out there but all are either a size too big or look like something your grandparent would drive.
