Major Honda Recall expands

More than 33,000 Honda vehicles recalled over air-bag concerns.

2001 to 2003 models of the Honda Civic are affected.

An additional 33,434 Honda vehicles, including the Civic, CR-V and Jazz, have been added to an already significantly large air-bag recall.

The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission are overseeing the recall, which now affects 2001-2003 models of the Civic, 2002-2003 built versions of the CR-V and Jazz vehicles built in 2003.

It’s believed the front passenger air-bag inflator may have been assembled with improperly manufactured propellant wafers.

The ACCC say that in the event of a crash, the inflator may rupture and cause the front passenger air-bag to deploy abnormally, increasing the risk of injury to the occupant.

Owners of Honda CR-V’s built between 2002 and 2003 are also facing a trip back to a Honda dealership.

A letter will be sent to affected owners and owners are advised to contact their authorised dealership for rectification.
