Meantime, a couple of other interesting points came out of today’s press conference, including confirmation the diesel-powered version of the XUV500 is set to be removed from the Australian market through 2018.

Mahindra will also withdraw the Genio ute from our market this year.

But, as part of big plans for the Australian market, Mahindra confirmed we would be seeing a number of new models in coming years, all built on new platforms.

These new products include the Scorpio full-size SUV, a new compact SUV and the Jeep Wrangler-like Mahindra THAR.

And to support the new product there is expected to be a strong increase in the number of Mahindra dealerships available to Australian customers.

At present there are 40 dealerships stocking the brand’s vehicles in our market, that number is expected to double over the next couple of years.
