Details on the new Lexus NX have been released ahead of the models official début at the Beijing Auto Show.
But, the hybrid SUV may not be coming to Australia, Lexus Australia Chief Executive Sean Hanley says while the model would be a handy addition to the local line-up, a decision on whether it comes here is yet to be made by Lexus head office in Japan.
The NX, aimed at people who lead what Lexus describes as an “Urban Lifestyle”, will feature three different drivetrains – 2.0 litre petrol, 2.0 litre turbo charged petrol and 3.0 litre petrol/hybrid.
Inside the cabin Lexus is promising the latest technology, including a Wireless Charging Tray to enable charging of portable devices.
Mr Hanley says now the only challenge is to get the NX into Australia.
“Lexus Australia is very eager to secure the NX SUV and we believe it would complement our existing SUV line-up, providing a gateway vehicle to other SUVs and our expansive hybrid vehicle range,”
“We are now negotiating with Lexus in Japan and expect a decision to be made very soon – it’s a very exciting time for us.”
