No word yet on Australian availability, however in the U.S. Lexus is about to start offering the Lexus LX 570 in just five-seat capacity.

Traditionally a seven-seat large luxury SUV, the LandCruiser-based offering will get the option of five-seat capacity in the U.S./North America after buyers repeatedly asked for more cargo space and less seats.

Removing the third-row of seats from the big Lexus frees up around 15% more cargo space.

Ironically, the announcement came at the same time that Lexus announced an increased seating capacity for the smaller Lexus RX.

Lexus tell us such customers include smaller families, empty nesters and multiple-vehicle households.

“These buyers are more likely to travel with fewer passengers but more carry-on gear. Among the activities they enjoy are skiing, cycling, kayaking and golf, along with such hobbies as nature photography and antique collecting. Some also wanted more versatility for carrying their dogs.” – Lexus

While another change for the Lexus LX in 2018 will be the availability of a single model grade (once again, not confirmed in Australia).

The Japanese brand telling us this will enhance customer value by making ordering a vehicle as easy as choosing the exterior and interior colors.
