Jaguar’s first SUV claims the biggest car of the year award on offer…
It’s been a critical and commercial success and so it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise to see the Jaguar F-PACE crowned 2017 World Car of the Year.
Jaguar’s inaugural SUV also claimed the 2017 World Car Design of the Year award.
Announced at the New York International Auto Show, the Jaguar model beat home the Audi Q5 and Volkswagen Tiguan to take the World Car of the Year title.
The triumph marks the first time a Jaguar/Land Rover product has taken the coveted award and Jaguar Land Rover CEO, Dr Ralf Speth, says he believes the F-PACE was a worthy winner.
“The F-PACE was designed and engineered as a performance SUV with exceptional dynamics, everyday usability and bold design.
“Winning these two awards endorses the talent and great work of our teams that have delivered the world’s most practical sports car and Jaguar’s fastest selling vehicle.”
Other winners at the 2017 World Car of the Year awards included:
- BMW i3 (94Ah) – 2017 World Urban Car
- Porsche Boxster Cayman – 2017 World Performance Car
- Toyota Prius Prime – 2017 World Green Car
- Mercedes-Benz E-Class – 2017 World Luxury Car
