There’s a new player in the small SUV/crossover market with Hyundai Australia confirming dealerships now have stock of the Kona available for local buyers.
That breaks with tradition just slightly…we normally get a drive before a car officially hits the market!
In the meantime, we can tell you that the Hyundai Kona range kicks off from $27,000 drive-away.
Like most other Hyundai models in 2017, three model grades are being offered – Active, Elite and Highlander.
Buyers of the entry-level Hyundai Kona will also be offered an optional safety pack for an additional $1,500.
This brings features such as emergency braking, blind-spot monitor and rear-cross traffic alert.
Standard gear in the Hyundai Kona includes a reverse camera, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, rear parking sensors, and alloy wheels.
While buyers will be offered a choice of 110kW/180Nm 2.0 litre petrol, or 130kW/265Nm 1.6 litre turbo-petrol.
The naturally-aspirated petrol models all come with a six-speed auto transmission and are front-wheel drive only, the turbocharged engine gets a seven-speed dual-clutch auto and all-wheel drive.
Hyundai Australia CEO, JW Lee, says the Kona is ready to make a splash in the Australian market.
“Arriving fashionably late for the party means that we had the development time needed to deliver a small SUV that is right for its time and laser-focused on its target,”
“Kona will appeal to customers with active lifestyles, a sense of adventure and a keen eye for value.”
We’ll bring you more on the new Hyundai offering through the week.
