Goodyear acquires tyre inspection technology business

Tyre giants Goodyear have acquired the German automated tyre inspection technology business – Ventech Systems.

The business, founded in 2006, pioneered the development of automated heavy vehicle tyre inspection technology and has won supply contracts with some of Europe’s biggest truck fleets (as we reported here).

The tech checks tyre pressure, tread depth, and vehicle weight for buses, trucks and other vehicles – without the driver having to leave the cab.

Now Ventech is part of the Goodyear Tire & Rubber family.

The German business will be integrated into the Goodyear Proactive Solutions operation and the tyre giants say they made the acquisition to strengthening their one-stop value proposition for fleets, including premium tyres, advanced technology, and mobile fleet solutions.

They say the tyre inspection technology will better them provide a complete service package to fleets to allow them to optimize their total cost of ownership and efficiency.
