Fuel pipe issue sees Porsche cars recalled

Australian owners of 239 Porsche sports cars are being contacted regarding a possibly dangerous fuel line fault.

The recall affects Porsche 911, Carrera 991, Boxster and Cayman vehicles and the recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).

The recall notice advises that there is a possibility that the fastening screws for the fuel collection pipes on the affected vehicles can loosen and shear off.

There is potential for leakage to cause a smell from the vehicle.

In extreme worst case situations, if the fuel comes in contact with an ignition source, there is potential for fire.

Owners of affected vehicles will be contacted by mail and provided with instructions on how to arrange for the replacement of the fastening screws.
