Fault could lead to overheating
The recall of a popular vehicle jump-starter has been initiated after a possible in the unit was identified.
Intellistart Jumpstarters carrying Part Number (P/No.) as IS900E or IS1200E and identified on the front of the unit as either 12V 900A or 12V 1200A are affected.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) advises that all the affected units were sold locally between the 21st of September 2016 and the 23rd of June 2017.
The ACCC recall notice says in some circumstances the product’s battery component may overheat after jump-starting a vehicle.
What are the hazards?
If the fault occurs there is a risk of a fire and this may result in property damage and personal injury.
Owners of affected Intellistart Jumpstarters should stop using them immediately and contact the place of purchase or Brown & Watson International to arrange for the return of the product for a full refund.
