Kia Sportage, Sorento recalled

A recall of a small number of Kia SUVs sold in Australia has been initiated after a possible issue with a fuel hose was identified.

Affecting a total of just over 100 vehicles sold in Australia, all are 2011 models of the Kia Sportage (SL) and Kia Sorento (XM).

The recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and the commission advises that vehicles equipped with Euro 5 R-engines, might exhibit premature deterioration of the fatigue-resistance and oil-proofing of the fuel feed hose.

What are the hazards?

If the defect occurs there is a risk of a fuel hose leak or fire, which may pose a risk of injury to the vehicle occupants and other road users.

What should affected Kia owners do?

Kia Australia will contact owners by direct mail and they will be asked to contact their nearest Kia Dealer to arrange an inspection and repair free of charge.
