Just like clothes and hairstyles – car colours go through different trends and styles.
For example, in 2018 car buyers were after white, black and grey coloured cars.
On the nose was silver.
The 2018 BASF Colour Report has just been released and shows that blue was again the most popular car paint colour last year.
Red was the second favourite.
As usual, white was right up there too – especially in our region.
The report found that more than 50% of all new cars sold in the Asia Pacific region carried the basic paint colour – though Australian car buyers do like coloured cars and would no doubt be bringing that average down.
One of the reasons why black and white was so popular last year was the overall trend towards SUVs and larger vehicles – these vehicles apparently look better in simple colours.
While the trend towards brown SUVs, something we did see to a degree in Australia in the past five years or so, appears to be waning – brown joining silver as a car paint colour going somewhat out of vogue.
