Eleven models in contention for 2016 Car of the Year

The 2016 Behind the Wheel Car of the Year Award will be chosen from a field of eleven new/updated models.

Our four judges have all put forward their field of the best cars they’ve experienced this year and the debate is now on to decide which vehicle was the stand-out.

Behind the Wheel Editor, Joel Helmes, says he has never seen such a strong field of Car of the Year contenders.

“Most years choosing a stand-out vehicle comes down to a handful of models, however in 2016 the number of quality new or improved new cars on the market has left us with a far more difficult job.

“Ranging from the budget-priced Holden Spark, all the way up to the Tesla, these are some really well thought-out and nicely executed vehicles.”

We will announce our 2016 Car of the Year award winner in early December.

Previous winners of the Behind the Wheel Car of the Year award include; 2011 – Kia Optima, 2012 – Hyundai Elantra, 2013 – Holden Commodore, 2014 – Volkswagen Golf, 2015 – Kia Sorento.
