Petrol and diesel engines have a lot in common, but its their differences that allows us to have a choice of engines that can be used for very different purposes.
For example, diesels are great for trucks where they provide plenty of torque (low down grunt) and at minimal engine speeds.
While petrol engines, in the main, offer more power and at greater engine speeds and this makes them ideal for applications where instant ‘go’ is a higher priority, such as in the majority of passenger cars.
