There are concerns owners of some Mitsubishi Challenger SUVs may not be able to properly fit child restraints after it was found some vehicles may not have been fitted with weld nuts.
Affecting the 2014 Model Year PC Mitsubishi Challenger the recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC).
The ACCC recall notice advising that the weld nuts for the child restraint anchor fitting may be missing at both the driver’s and passenger side rear restraint point.
There should be 3 usable points. This violates Australian regulation (ADR 3 34).
The recall notice warning that the customer may not be able to correctly install a child restraint, increasing the risk of injury if fitted.
Mitsubishi Motors Australia Authorised dealers will contact affected Mitsubishi Challenger owners as soon as possible.
