Joel Helmes reviews battery terminal protector.

Having a clean connection between your battery and your battery cables helps deliver a better start and makes life easier for your cars electrical system.
But, especially if you don’t drive your car frequently, corrosion can quickly build up between the battery posts and terminals, thanks to oxidization.
Altrex Auto Accessories sent us out a can of their CarPlan Lick My Battery product to test out and we thought it would be a good chance to also do some preventive maintenance on my colleague Simon Lai’s family camper van…

To remove the corrosion, use a wire brush and some fine sandpaper.

Then some warm water can be used to rinse away the dirt and corrosion.

Then give the posts and terminals a spray to ensure the exterior surfaces are also protected.

Summing it up: You don’t need a lot of mechanical skills to complete simple tasks such as this, but taking the time to ensure a good connection between your battery and terminals and connectors can only lead to positive results for your car.
The CarPlan product was easy to use and left a good thick protective coating on the posts and terminals. We will keep an eye on whether it prevents the build up of more corrosion over the coming months.
CarPlan Lick My Battery has a recommended retail price of $9.99 and is available at auto accessory retailers and from the Altrex Auto Accessories on-line store.
