Your Car Reviews: 2005 Holden Adventra

Garry tells us about his 2005 V8/4×4 Holden Adventra.

I wanted a head turning car and being a Holden fan through and through it was an easy decision to buy a Holden Adventra.

It has proven a great vehicle to tow our trailbikes/trailer and the big V8 Holden has now racked up more than 160,000km.

I went with the V8 engine as I figured this was going to be a car that Holden wouldn’t be offering for too long, I mean a 4×4 Commodore – what a classic!

It’s been a great car. Most of the trips we make are long country drives and this is the ideal vehicle for that. I average about 14 litre per 100 kilometres on the highway in the Adventra and I reckon that’s pretty good.

The interior is comfortable and holding up well, the rubber floor mats get a bit of use and I have had all-terrain tyres fitted to the 17 inch wheels and these help us get the Commo into someone pretty wild country.

Everything still works, my only complaint is that there isn’t a new Adventura that I can buy today! Yep, it turns heads too, even ten years on!

Thanks for your review of the V8 4×4 Holden Adventura Garry, awesome car and it looks like it’s been a great purchase for you.

  1. I still have mine, and I love it!! The only reason I haven’t updated is because nothing else comes close on power and cargo space! I’m interested to know what all-terrain tyres you put on, and how they would go for combination of work-commute and weekend touring.
