BMW today let us know that the BMW X7 was now officially in “pre-production” at the German brand’s U.S. plant.

The pre-production vehicles will be put to the test through 2018 ahead of full production commencing towards the end of next year.

In confirming that the first BMW X7 vehicles were now becoming a reality, BMW said that testing will include both endurance tests and test drives under extreme conditions, including in Death Valley and Scandinavia.

“This is a very special vehicle and our employees are looking forward to yet a further member of the X family.” – Knudt Flor, head of the BMW Group Spartanburg plant

We can confirm that the X7 is a three-row SUV, the concept version had just six seats, expect the production model to feature seven.

Petrol and diesel versions, along with a plug-in hybrid, are expected to feature when the SUV lands in dealerships in early 2019.
