BMW reveals new engines for 1 Series

BMW have made upgrades to a number of their BMW 1 Series models upping the power and torque and improving the fuel economy.

Starting with the BMW 120i, the manufacturer has increase the power and torque in the 2.0 litre turbo engine from 135kW and 270Nm from 130kW and 250Nm.

Power in the 2.0 litre BMW 125i has gone up five notches to 165kW and is capable of 5.9L/100km.

Fuel consumption has been reduced to 5.9L/100km.

And the new flagship BMW M140i replaces the M135i boasting a 3.0 litre twin turbo six-cylinder engine that develops 250kW and 500Nm.

This latest offering comes in an eight-speed sports automatic or six-speed manual transmission as a no-cost option.

Features have also been improved upon the M135i with heated leather seats with electric adjustment, a 12 speaker Harmon/Kardon system plus adaptive headlights, adaptive suspension and DAB radio.

BMW Group CEO Marc Werner says there’s something for everyone in the 1 Series range.

“The BMW 1 Series hatchback has always stood out within its segment and caters to a broad spectrum of customers, from those looking for an efficient city car to enthusiasts seeking strong performance in a compact package.”

The updated range will be available towards the end of the year.

BMW 120i – $41,900

BMW 125i – $48,900

BMW M140i – $64,900
