New BMW 5 Series promises exceptional fuel economy…
As we reported at the recent launch of the all-new BMW 5 Series a plug-in hybrid variant is on the way.
Following in the footsteps of plug-in hybrid versions of siblings including the X5 SUV and 3 Series, BMW’s latest plug-in hybrid offering is promising fuel consumption as low as just 1.9L/100km.
An electric-only drive range of up to 50km is also being promised.
Just launched in Germany, the model will be known as the BMW 530e iPerformance and the car company tell us it delivers a dynamic driving experience, combined with low, or zero local emissions.
Mating a 70kW/250Nm electric motor with a 2.0 litre petrol engine, maximum output is 185kW and 420Nm and BMW is talking a handy 0-100km/h sprint in just 6.2 seconds.
