The BMW i8 will be here in 2015 with a starting price of $299,000.
BMW Australia today confirmed pricing and specifications for the new model, but there are a couple of hurdles standing in the way of the i8 reaching mammoth sales numbers (aside from the six-figure starting price).
The i8 will only be imported in fairly limited numbers and only a handful of metropolitan dealerships will be given the opportunity to sell the two-door coupe.
BMW has also confirmed the plug-in hybrid with a carbon-fibre passenger cell will come with a choice of four body colours, a choice of three 20” alloy wheel designs and three interior design schemes.
While standard features will include:
- LED headlights
- Head-up display
- Eleven speaker top-end harman/kardon sound system
BMW Group Australia managing director, Phil Horton, said the BMW i8 is a real trailblazer.
“The BMW i8 is a showcase, not only for its visionary concepts, inspiring design and ground-breaking construction, but also for its innovative technologies which make it the car of the future.”
The BMW i8 is expected to arrive in Australia next March.
