Why? Because the current series vehicle is proving increasingly unpopular among Australian SUV buyers.
The Cherokee, with it’s distinctive front styling, started life in Australia back in 2014 with healthy sales.
Now though, over three years later, local sales have ground to a near halt.
VFACTS data shows Jeep delivered just 57 Cherokees to Aussie customers last month, across the first 11 months of the year sales haven’t cracked a thousand units.
Those totals are down 77% and 47% respectively on the same month/period of 2016.
On the horizon though is this new/updated version unveiled today.
“The 2019 Cherokee boasts a new, authentic and more premium design, along with even more fuel-efficient powertrain options.”
The new version of the Cherokee will debut at next month’s Detroit Auto Show.
