BMW Australia expecting hybrid X3
It’s been an amazing sales success for BMW Australia and now an all-new version of the X3 SUV is on the horizon.
The new model is promising more interior space and a more comfortable cabin too, while the external styling is more evolution, rather than revolution (check out the 2018 BMW X3 here).
But will there be a plug-in hybrid version of the new X3?
BMW’s local PR chief, Lenore Fletcher, told the Behind the Wheel Podcast this week that there is nothing concrete to report on the PHEV just yet…
“We have a plug-in hybrid now for our 7 Series, our 5 Series, our 3 Series, our X5, I think its a shoe in that you’ll be seeing alternative powertrains in the all of the BMW vehicles as we go through the next few years.”
While Lenore was also coy on the possible Australian availability of the high-performance 270kW BMW X3 M40i…
“Those details haven’t really been talked about a great deal, and we haven’t confirmed that that is something that is going to be available in right-hand drive, but you can bet your boots that if it does become available we’d be very keen to look at that.”
