2017 brings significant changes to BMW 2 Series range

The details on the 2017 BMW 2 Series Coupe and Convertible range have been revealed with BMW making a series of changes.

Offered in 2017 across three variants of both body-styles, the big news is the discontinuation of the diesel variant – the 220d.

The updated range continues to be headlined by the entry-level 220i, however the base-model car boasts a more powerful 135kW and 270Nm engine (up 5kW and 20Nm on the superseded model).

BMW has also ditched the 228i and in its place comes the new 185kW/350Nm 230i.

While the M235i is being replaced by the M240i and that offering comes with an updated version of the BMW straight-six that produces 250kW/500Nm (a 10kW/50Nm improvement over the old model).

Fuel economy across all three BMW 2 Series offerings for 2017 is also improved over the models they replace.

It wasn’t just under the bonnet where BMW focussed their attention, all variants also pick-up increased features, including the addition of the M Sport package now complimentary in the 230i.

There’s also the Luxury Line pack that also comes at no extra cost on the 230i, while 220i buyers can add the pack, which brings features such as a harman/kardon sound system and front seat electric lumbar support, for an additional $1,000.
