A recall involving current models of the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Evoque SUVs has been launched after a possibly dangerous airbag was identified.
The recall affects MY16/17 vehicles and all were sold between the 31st of August 2016 and the 31st of October 2016.
VIN Ranges (Selected vehicles within range):
- Range Rover – SALGS2PF6GA310620 to SALWA2KF8GA112983
- Range Rover Sport – SALWR2KF3GA111474 to SALWA2KF5GA665736
- Range Rover Evoque – SALVA2AN4HH178184 to SALVA2AN2HL921082
Being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), the recall notice advises that
The mixture of chemicals used in front passenger airbags on certain vehicles may not meet specification, which may result in the initiator not properly functioning and the front passenger airbag not activating in the event of a crash.
What are the hazards?
If the airbag fails to deploy it could lead to increased injuries to the front passenger seat occupant.
Affected owners will be contacted by direct mail and asked to contact their nearest Land Rover dealer to arrange an inspection of the vehicle and replacement of the front passenger airbag.
