2012 Nissan Dualis Review

2012 Nissan Dualis Road Test and Review…

There are many and varied demands when designing a car in this class. But it must be said that Nissan‘s design and engineering teams have met the brief with the Nissan Dualis.

The 2012 Nissan Dualis looks a bit like an SUV, drives a lot like a car, and most importantly it actually works quite well.

One trade-off however is the suspension which is a touch on the firm side and the Dualis does have a slightly jittery nature on less that really good road surfaces.

Only one engine is available, a smooth two-litre petrol with 102kW and 198Nm.

The only real complaint with the power plant is an uninspiring drone under acceleration.

The Nissan Dualis is heavier than its hatch rivals and that’s had an effect on the fuel economy which stands at 8.2L/100km for the front wheel drive version, add 0.2 for AWD.

The Dualis is presentable, with a pleasing, but not too far out body shape.

Stepping inside, there are soft-touch materials and sturdy plastics making up the rest of the fascia, the Dualis has an air of quality not seen in this sector since the Mercedes A-Class.

All the switchgear has a nicely weighted action and feels good on the fingers.

There’s plenty of head and legroom (for the front five passengers anyway) and enough storage for even the most materialistic of children.

The rear bench is wide enough to carry three, and at 410 litres, the boot is big for a car in this segment (e.g. the Ford Focus manages 385 litres).

Nissan has provided the Dualis with an impressive array of standard items including – power windows and mirrors, key-less unlocking, a good climate control and sound system, cruise control, satellite navigation, rear vision camera and ample storage spaces.
