2010 models of the Kia Cerato small car are being recalled after a possible issue with an automatic transmission cooler hose was identified.
Affecting TD series Kia Cerato vehicles built between the 27th of August 2010 and the 11th of November 2010, the recall is being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.
The ACCC recall notice advising that the automatic transmission fluid cooler hose may have been improperly cured during the manufacturing process, thereby increasing the possibility of transmission fluid leaking from the hose.
Leaking transmission fluid may result in the illumination of the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) and/or abnormal transmission shifting. Depending upon the amount of transmission fluid lost, reduced vehicle mobility may occur, increasing the risk of an accident.
Affected Kia Cerato owners should contact their preferred Kia dealer to schedule an appointment to have their vehicles automatic transmission cooling lines replaced.
