Wiper issues see 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class recalled

Recall underway for current series Mercedes-Benz E-Class…

Australian owners of Mercedes-Benz E-Class cars are being asked to return their vehicle to a dealership to a possibly dangerous windscreen wiper motor issue attended to.

The recall, being overseen by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), affects Mercedes-Benz E-Class vehicles sold in Australia between the 1st of April 2016 and the 31st of August 2016.

The recall notice advising that the electrical wiring harness for the front windshield wiper motor has not been routed correctly.

Due to the movement of the windshield wiper linkage the electrical wiring harness may become damaged.

As a consequence, the wiper motor may fail.

What are the hazards?

If the wipers fail, visibility would be impaired for the driver. In the event of adverse weather conditions this could increase the risk of an accident.

Letters will be sent to owners of the affected Mercedes-Benz E-Class vehicles with info on obtaining a repair.
