The current Volkswagen Tiguan was only released a few months ago and now VW have expanded the range adding the Volkswagen Tiguan 162TSI Highline.

Priced from $48,490, the 162TSI Highline possesses the same 2/0 litre turbo (162kW/350Nm) engine as the VW Mark VII Golf GTI.

Coupled with a seven-speed DSG transmission, the SUV is capable of 0-100km/p in just 6.5 seconds making it the fastest, most powerful Tiguan to date.

Also unique to the new package are safety technologies including front assist with emergency brake, lane assist, multi-collision brake, an active bonnet

An optional driver assistance package ($2000) offers up rear traffic alert, adaptive cruise control and radar side assist plus a 360 degree view around the car.

Active Info Display provides customisable virtual data about the car, such as  an off-road profile with compass and steering angle info all viewable on the 12.3- inch digital instrument cluster.

Aesthetics haven’t been forgotten with an integrated exhaust trim with dual exhaust behind the rear bumper. Customers can also opt for a panoramic electric glass sunroof to soak up the summer sun

And there’s the optional R-Line package ($4000) which offers 20-inch alloys and with adaptive chassis control and progressive steering to the vehicle as well as an R-Line body kit and interior.

Volkswagen says even with the added extras, the price of the VW Tiguan 162TSI Highline at $56,490 makes it a strong competitor against luxury SUVs.
