VW concept car next venture into electric vehicles …
Volkswagen has provided a preview of their electric concept car, the VW I.D. CROZZ at the Shanghai Motor Show.
The I.D. CROZZ crossover utility vehicle joins the I.D. and I.D. BUZZ to mark the new generation of VW electric vehicles planned for the future.
Featuring in all-wheel drive, the I.D. CROZZ is capable of 225kW of power and a top speed of 180km/h.
It has a total range of 500km and can be charged to 80 percent in 30 minutes with a fast charging system.
The real highlight will be fully autonomous autopilot mode which can be engaged just by touching the VW badge on the steering wheel.
Gesture control will also feature prominently used to controlling functions inside the cabin such as the light shade on the panoramic sunroof.
Internal space is no problem with an open plan design despite the compact body, afforded by the nature of an electric vehicle with a fully integrated battery into the floor and the suspension and drivetrain positioned on the edges.
Chairman of the Board of Management Herbert Diess, has big hopes for the VW I.D. CROZZ and the rest of the electric range.
“We want to boost annual sales of electric vehicles to one million units by 2025 and the I.D. CROZZ will play a key role in achieving that.”
The Volkswagen I.D. CROZZ will go into production in 2020.
