Iconic FJ LandCruiser the inspiration for head-turning concept…

Wait, haven’t Toyota already had a model that paid tribute to the legendary FJ? Wasn’t it even called the FJ Cruiser?

Just months after pulling the pin on the Toyota FJ Cruiser, Toyota is again looking at possibilities surrounding another potential 4×4 offering inspired by the original FJ-series LandCruiser.

This concept, known as the FT-4X, has just been unveiled at the New York Auto Show and was designed by a Toyota design studio in California.

While not yet close to being a production model, Toyota tell us FT-4X (or Future Toyota 4WD Crossover), features compact, sturdy dimensions and places value on simplicity, capability, durability and Toyota lineage.

Designer, Kevin Hunter, says the FT-4X is meant to again build a bond between people and their cars.

“It’s a thoughtful, charming and engaging experience that adds real pleasure and convenience to the journey,”

“We focused on how a crossover vehicle can add fun and value to casual adventures both I and out of the city, thinking about how someone would use it, and what they would love to do with it.”
