Tesla Model 3 enters production

First Tesla Model 3 built this week

The long-awaited, much more affordable, Telsa Model 3 is now in production.

Initial customer deliveries in the U.S. are expected to start at the end of the month, the car has been offered under a ‘reservation’ system and Tesla say they have more than 373,000 buyers waiting to take delivery.

Though supply of the new five-seat Tesla model looks likely to fall short of demand with those reservation holders likely to not receive their car until late next year.

Tesla founder and boss, Elon Musk, tweeted that about 1,500 Model 3 cars will be built per month in coming months.

However, he’s tipping that as many as 20,000 will be built per month in 2018…

Carrying a $35,000 price tag in the U.S, the fully-electric Tesla Model 3 boasts a 346 kilometre range.
