Renault-Nissan form new light commercial vehicle division

Renault-Nissan Alliance creates dedicated LCV division…

Renault has the expertise with vans, Nissan with pick-ups/utes, together they believe they can make an even bigger impact on the commercial vehicle market.

The Renault-Nissan alliance has just announced that it would form a new global light commercial vehicle division with the goal being to significantly increase sales.

That division will be known as the Renault-Nissan LCV Business Unit.

The French and Japanese car companies will continue to sell vehicles under the two separate brand names, while Mitsubishi-Motors, which was recently taken over by Nissan, will also be involved.

Renault-Nissan Alliance Chairman and CEO, Carlos Ghosn, says the new business unit makes sense.

“The combination of Renault, Nissan and the early collaboration with Mitsubishi Motors in a single Alliance LCV Business Unit will boost sales and deliver greater synergies,”

“With this move, we plan to expand our market leadership by accelerating our performance in current and new, high-growth markets, based on each company’s core products and market knowledge, and driven by customer needs.”

Already, Renault-Nissan have worked together/shared platforms on models such as the Nissan NV300/Renault Trafic and Renault Alaskan/Nissan Navara (pictured above).

While into the future the new unit will oversee Nissan’s body-on-frame SUVs, including the Nissan Armada and Nissan Patrol.

The Renault-Nissan LCV Business Unit will be led by Alliance senior vice president, Ashwani Gupta.

We will have more news on this as it comes to hand.
