Nissan poaches Mazda’s communications chief as sales stall…
What is going on with Nissan at the moment? That’s a question we often ask around the office and the answer invariably is that the Japanese car company just isn’t getting its message out.
Nissan sales in 2017 are down a worrying 14% and the brand’s April total was 17% lower than the same month last year.
With a strong array of SUVs, as well as the Navara, Nissan is the Australian car industries biggest under-performer of late.
An appointment confirmed today though could just be the turning point.
The widely-respected Karla Leach has been announced as Nissan’s new Corporate Communications boss.
Coming over from Mazda, where she headed up a slick and professional PR team, Karla was a big factor in helping to get Mazda from also-rans right up to the podium placings in the monthly car sales race.
We can attest to the fact that a proactive and enthusiastic head of communications can make a big difference to how, and how much, a brand is covered in the media.
And as they say, “mentions drive intentions”.
